,. PARK BOARD MINUTES October 3, 1988
Mr. Volk stated that we will start working with the
developer regarding the fill needed in the lower areas in
the park.
MOTION: George Linde recommends to Council to accept the 5
acre parcel under the condition that if the plat does reach
the projected 65 acres, the remaining 1 . 6 equivalent be
negotiated with the developer to be used for grading, screen
fence for ballfield, etc. Also, Park Board is recommending
the signing of an agreement with the developer to this
effect.
Bill Nissen 2nd the motion and the motion was carried.
PINE BARK BEETLES/MIKE HOFFMAN
Pine Bark Beetles have made their mark in several areas of
our City. Mike Hoffman explained that due to the drought
conditions, when trees are under alot of stress, and along
with that, the fact that in some areas the Pine trees are
planted too close together, they are more vulnerable to
disease. More trees will die this fall and spring unless we
have a wet winter and spring.
Mike explained that the Sherwood Green area was almost in a
panic state. Somehow, the wrong information was brought to
them. The neighborhood was banning together and burning the
trees. The panic has been ,subdued and a future
informational meeting will take place at City Hall to inform
residents how to cure the beetle problem.
Don Volk stated the City should purchase Lindgren Funnel
traps from the DNR. The cost for each trap is $30. 00 -
$40. 00, and 5 traps per acre would be effective. The city
may have to purchase these traps initially, but then divide
the cost up between the individuals involved.
Mike stated that near April 15th of 1989 he hopes to start
monitoring the trees. Also, the Park Board will be updated
periodically on this issue.
DEVELOPERS PARK DEDICATION LETTER/BILL NISSEN
The Park Board commended Bill on his letter. Bob Williams
stated the letter covered all areas, and the Park Board
should act on this right away.
Page 2
