De Cisio
ME Resources Ltd.
January 26, 1988
Mr . John Miller
City Planner
City of Lino Lakes
IIe9 Main Street
Lino Lakes, Minnesota 55014
Dear Mr . Miller :
Decision Resources, Ltd . , is pleased to present this, survey
research proposal to the City of Lino Lakes . I am certain that
DRL can provide you with the information you seek in both a cost-
effective and timely manner .
Ft NWIISE OF TW RESE "
This Recreational Attitudes Survey would assess both the
attitudes and needs of Lino Lakes residents. The sur•vPy
instrument would contain a number of distinct sections. Part of
the questionnaire would be a "recreational lifestyle" assessment
-- a series of questions on the recreational pursuits of Lino
Lakes residents. In the past , other cities have found the
citizen profiles which can be established extremely useful for
long range planning purposes. Another section of the
questionnaire would examine current recreational program and park
usage -- inside and outside the city -- as well as the demand for
in-city facilities and programs. This section would provide a
facilities and programming evaluation to guide the policy makers,
in recreation planning and land acquisition decisions. A third
section would explicitly assess attitudes toward the city, itself
-- satisfaction, likes and dislikes, "connectedness, " expected
residential longevity, and other perceptions which bear
indirectly on recreational programming . These questions provide
a more global view within which recreational concerns can be
judged . Normally, the questionnaire concludes with a series of
demographic queries to measure differences among groups of
citizens -- for example, between new-comers and long-time
residents, sections of the city, age, or income.
The precise topics to be included in the survey would be
specified by the City; the discussion above is simply meant to
indicate the general format of. similar residential . surveys.
Several cities have included questions about other issues faring
the community, such as development policies, budget priorities .
3128 Dean Court • Minneapolis, Minnesota SS416 • (612) 920-0337
