`-olo
Memorandum
To: Chairman Ray Johnson, Lino Lakes Park Board
From: Randy Schumacher, City Administrator
Date: November 10, 1987
Re: Park Board concerns over budget cuts
It has been brought to my attention that the Park Board has
some concerns over budget cuts in 1988 which would affect
the Park Department ' s operations.
I have pulled together budget figures from the last three
. years which show significant increases to the Park
Department budget . Those figures are as follows :
Operational Fund Capital Outlay
1986 $ 71 , 095 . 00 $ -0-
1987 $ 93, 975. 00 $ 12, 000. 00
1988 $122, 584. 00 $ 23, 000. 00
In a year ( 1988) when the City Council has frozen the mill
rate, Federal Revenue Sharing has been cut completely, and
State Aids reduced, city operations have had to be cut back.
You can see by these figures however, that the Park budget
has steadily increased over the past 3 years. In fact these
increases are significantly higher than many other general
fund department budgets.
I felt the need to clarify this issue once it was brought to
my attention that the Park Board felt so strongly on this
isssue. I hope this has answered your concerns regarding
the budget . If you still have questions, please contact my
office.
For your information, the City Council will be finalizing
the 1988 Budget at their December 14th Council meeting.
