PARK BOARD MEETING SEPTEMBER 8, 1992 The September 8, 1992 meeting of the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Board was called to order at 6: 30 pm at Lino Lakes City Hall by Vice Chairperson Ken Johnson. Roll Call was taken, members in attendance were Jacquelyn Farm, Ray Johnson, Ken Johnson and Candy Toffoli. Members absent were Brian Bourassa, John Bauman and George Lindy. Also in attendance were Marty Asleson, Parks, Recreation and Forestry Coordinator, Linda Elliott, Councilperson- Liaison to the Park Board, Jeff Schoenbauer, Representative from Brauer & Associates, and Carole Kohler, Parks and Recreation Secretary. The minutes from the August 3 , 1992 meeting were approved as mailed. OPEN MIKE - No one appeared under Open Mike OLD BUSINESS : Completed Comprehensive Plan - Jeff Schoenbauer from Brauer & Associates appeared before the board with his comments on the finished comprehensive plan. He explained that the plan has been sent to the Metropolitan Council for their consideration and approval. The Lino Lakes City Council has approved the document contingent upon approval and acceptance by the Met Council. Mr. Schoenbauer feels that this document will impact the decision making process regarding parks and recreation development in the community and hopes that the council is aware and will use it in their planning process. Linda Elliott commented that the council is pleased with the plan and is very much aware of what a good tool it is. She thinks that all Planning and Zoning board members and Council members should have one. Ken Johnson mentioned that he was skeptical (at first) of spending the money for the plan, but now he is very pleased with the results and wants to work with the other boards to see that the plan is carried out. He would like to see new priorities set each year in respect to the comprehensive plan. Jeff Schoenbauer commented that chances for the City receiving grants and funding have been greatly increased with this document. Acquisition and Move of Shelter Donated by City of Shoreview - Jeff Schoenbauer referred the board to the copy of the project tracking sheet in their packets that he had prepared as an example for the board to use in following various projects/developments the board would act upon. The framework of this tracking sheet includes an overview statement explaining the particular project, then staff comments for consideration with a listing space for positive and negative attributes.
