Park Board Meeting
Monday, March 2, 1992
these areas, plans are to move on to Wenzel Farms in the spring of
1993 . It's not a good idea to plant too much in the new
developments before people move in because of grading, and no
people there to water the trees, etc.
John Bauman asked if the city was able to transplant trees using
the tree spade. Marty Asleson commented that there are a lot of
smaller trees coming out of developments, they used the tree spade
a lot for that last year.
OTHER OLD BUSINESS:
John Bauman asked about the current status of Rice Lake Estates
Park joint agreement with Circle Pines. Marty Asleson reported that
he spoke with Steve Johnson of the Circle Pines Park Board at the
recent Regional Park meeting, and the agreement is still being
worked on. The city should have the legal conveyance of land soon.
There is no problem with this project, it's just taking a long
time.
Woodridge Estates Update - George Lindy has tried, but was'
unsuccessful in several attempts to contact Mr. Kuny. He wanted to
convey the feeling of the City Attorney, that this is not a problem
for the city, but a developers problem. 'Ken Johnson expressed that
he would like to see Rick Carlson, the developer come back to the
park board for an alternate solution.
Trail Conference - A recent trail conference was attended by Marty
Asleson. He reported that Federal/State transportation grant
programs will make funds available for trails in the future.
Because of our plans and locations, part of these funds could
funnel down to us. At this conference Mr. Asleson visited with
people from the City of Shoreview regarding our trails and the
concern of crime along them. Their trail patrol officer had no
information on/or knowledge of excessive crime along their trails.
Golf Course Study - John Bauman questioned if anything is presently
being done on a golf course study. He asked if Marty Asleson would
check into what it would cost to get started. Marty said we might
talk with developers to work out a plan where they would pursue the
planning and development of a golf course in a joint venture.
Ramsey County is involved in a project of this type now.
NEW BUSINESS: There was no new business to report.
ADJOURN: A motion to adjourn was made by John Bauman, it was
seconded by Candi Toffoli.
