T:
MEMORANDUM
TO: All Park Board Members
FROM: Marty Asleson
DATE: February 28, 1992
SUBJECT: Agenda
Please note that there is only one consideration and/or
recommendation type of issue on the Agenda this month. Staff has
been working very hard to finish the Comprehensive Plan with Jeff
Schoenbauer, and this has taken a great deal of time.
We did have the representative for the Roger Hokanson development,
Quail Ridge, come in with another proposal. In light of the fact
that we are very close to some major policy decisions concerning
the philosophy of trails, I have decided that it would be well
worth the time from our standpoint, to wait until the Parks
Planning /committee and the new board members have time to digest
the information contained within the document. The plan will be
available Monday, as per the letter sent by Brauer and Associates.
I believe that the linear park greenery trail corridor idea
presented in the plan is a very good idea. This is not a new idea
as can be seen in the works of many parks and trail designers such
as Cleveland.
The decisions made today will affect the passive recreation
opportunities of the residents of Lino Lakes for a very long time.
at the same time, we are faced with development issues that
necessitate need to make decisions. These issues and decisions I
have found, are not unique to the City of Lino Lakes. I would like
to raise this as a discussion item at the board meeting and carry
the decision through upcoming Comprehensive Parks and Recreation
Planning Committee meetings. If need be, we can have a special
meeting on the trails so that the issues are perfectly clear.
The Quail Ridge development will be a good test of the upcoming
comprehensive plan.
