PARR BOARD MINUTES
Monday, December 2, 1991
another golf course that may be going in, and asked who Marty had
been referring to. Mr. Asleson explained that Al Robinson has been
talking about building one, and that there could possibly be a
joint venture here. The first thing would be to start to collect
some data and facts by going through the Minnesota Public Golf
Association.
Recreation Programs - Barry Bernstein explained his plans for
winter programs. He noted that skating will soon be starting, and
he and Marty Asleson are in the final stages of hiring warming
house attendants. Both Marty and Barry are keeping a close watch on
the budget, and are trying to do the best job within a limited
budget. They went on to explain that some first year programs are
experimental, but we are learning from that experience.
Marty Asleson has suggested a broomball league for junior high age
students. He would like to see some constructive type of activity
on our rinks for teens. There are also plans to try a co-rec
softball program for that same age group in the Spring.
District #831 Agreement - Mr. Asleson informed the board that the
agreement with the Forest Lake School District has been approved by
our city attorney, and will now go on to the council.
Comprehensive Park Plan - Mr. Asleson reported that the
Comprehensive Park Plan Advisory Committee has reached the point
where they will be ready for public input. He referred to the
meeting coming up on December loth and expects to be ready for a
public meeting sometime after the first of the year.
Warming House at Birch Park - George Lindy asked about the warming
house at Birch Park, the costs and the current status, are we still
leasing it? Yes, with option to buy. Marty Asleson explained he
just recently negotiated a new deal to lease for one more year. At
the end of this year we have to pay it off. The cost for leasing
the shelter is $160. 00 month. It doesn't appear that there will be
any money budgeted for another alternative to this building for
some time to come. George Lindy suggested that maybe it would be
prudent to purchase the shelter now instead of making payments, and
perhaps add cedar siding and upgrade the looks of it. Don Volk will
research the options involved here, and report back to the park
board.
There was no other old business.
NEW BUSINESS: - There was no new business
ADJOURN: Candi Toffoli made a motion to adjourn.
