CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARR BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1993
The committee reviewed evaluation sheets as prepared by Brauer &
Associates for each site along with accompanying aerial
photography. They concluded that Parcel "D" should be the preferred
site, for the following reasons:
* it offers good vehicular and trail access
* the land is very suitable for this type of development
* public utilities can likely be extended to the site in the
future
* development will have minimal impacts on adjacent properties
and land uses
* it is relatively central to the population
This 82.5 acre site is the closest to the originally selected site
as defined in the (comprehensive Plan.
The committee also decided upon Parcels "A" and "C" as suitable
alternatives should Parcel "D" not be attainable.
Marty Asleson reported that the next step is to contact the
property owners and set up a meeting between them , the City
Administrator and Marty. The plan would be to meet with the
landowners of sites 11 and #2 first. Marty noted that this is just
an update, the meetings will come next.
There was discussion where the board agreed that the name "athletic
complex" is not the most descriptive or marketable term. The board
would like the name to reflect more of the recreational aspect to
portray a complex that would be used for more than athletic
functions. Perhaps the term "recreation complex" could be used.
Park Board Work Session Follow-up - Follow-up discussion of the
Park Board Work Session that was held on October 27th was tabled
until the next regular park board meeting.
Recreation Focus Committee - Marty Asleson reported that the first
meeting of the Recreation Program Focus Committee is scheduled for
November 16th. Members of this committee will meet regularly to
share ideas, discuss and plan future parks and recreation program
offerings. Brian Bourassa will be the Park Board liaison to this
committee.
ADJOURN: A motion to adjourn was moved, seconded and carried
unanimously. Meeting was adjourned at 8:45.
5
