I -
PARK BOARD
WORK SESSION
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1993
A work session of the Lino Lakes Park Board was called to order at
5:30 pm on October 27, 1993 at Lino Lakes City Hall. Members in
attendance were John Baumann, Bob Williams, Joe Schmidt, Jacquelyne
Farm and Chairman George Lindy. Staff in attendance were Marty
Asleson - Parks, Recreation and Forestry Coordinator, Barry
Bernstein - Recreation Program Supervisor, and Carole Kohler -
Parks, Recreation and Forestry Secretary. Board member Ken Johnson
was in attendance at 6:00 pm.
Marty Asleson started the meeting by reviewing the Comprehensive
Park Plan and Development Guide and the criteria for prioritizing
acquisition according to the plan. He then reviewed the priorities
set at last year's goal setting session. Marty informed the board
that the dedicated park fund total as of the end of September is
$218,238. 00. He expects completion of projects already in the works
in October will cost about $61, 600, leaving a total in the fund of
approximately $156, 638. He also reminded the board of other
possible commitments that would come out of those dedicate funds
such as: lights for the hockey rink at City Hall, and the boardwalk
in the Brandywood development and possibly a boardwalk at the N-12
location ( Quail Ridge) . There's also the possibility of acquiring
another used shelter from the City of Shoreview in the spring, this
could cost around $13, 000.
Marty commented on the current status of the following projects:
QUAIL RIDGE - Boardwalk could cost $15, 000
M-1 / SUNSET OAKS PARK (Leonard & Bradley) - renovation of the park
cost approximately $18, 000. Is just about completed - neighbors are
pleased with results.
WENZEL FARMS PARK - Marty would like to start working on a site
plan for this park in the near future.
N-14/BALDWIN LAKE PARK PROPERTY ACQUISITION - this will be
discussed at the Park Board meeting next week
A-3 PROPERTY ACQUISITION/RECREATION COMPLEX SITE - the Mayor is on
the site selection committee and has pointed out that this is a
priority item. Funding from another mechanism is needed.
COMPLETION OF PAVING COMPLETED TRAILS - Marty will see how many
trails are left to be paved and report to the board.
Ref:PBWS10-93 1
