Tom Jensen - Eagle Scout Project Update
Tom Jensen appeared before the board at the last meeting
requesting financial help to complete his Eagle Scout project, that
being a basketball court in Arena Acres Park. At that time he was
"guesstimating" that the project, which was a full basketball
^ court, would cost about $6000. The board had some concern that
figure was low and asked Tom to do more research on costs and
return with that information at the next meeting.
Since the last meeting, Brian Bourassa and Marty Asleson met with
Tom and all decided that a half court was a more affordable
project. The final price on that would be $3850. As of this time
Tom has raised $2169. He is asking for the Park Board to fund the
balance of $1681. He would like to start as soon as possible.
A discussion followed where all agreed that Tom has worked hard and
this is a "super" project that the Park Board should be involved
with.
MOTION: A motion was made and seconded to recommend to the council
to expend the sum of $1681 from the dedicated park fund to help Tom
Jensen complete his Eagle Scout project at Arena Acres Park.
All were in favor - motion carried. Ken Johnson explained to Tom
that this recommendation from the Park Board will now go on to the
city council for consideration and the council will make the final
determination as to whether to expend the $1681 or not.
b.
