the possibilities of re-shaping the pond so that a trail might be
,- installed on the east side for access. The other condition was
that the Army Corps of Engineers would authorize this work to be
done. The motion was seconded and unanimously carried.
OPTIONS
Please find enclosed a copy of a letter from Mr. Clyde Rehbein
concerning his intents concerning these matters. Item no. 2 states
that he is willing to construct a non-bituminous walking trail with
on-site material along the east property line. The walking trail
will be approximately 8 feet by 250 feet and will begin at the
northeast corner of the property. Mr. Rehbein informed me that
this meant a gravel trail. He also indicated that the city would
be responsible for acquiring the necessary permits from the Corps.
We have acquired the permit application and are now waiting for the
wetland to be delineated.
RECOMMENDATION
Options:
This is an update only at this point.
Recommendation: Proceed with project.
OPTION$> ` << ><
Since the last neighborhood meeting we have been waiting for the
approval of the Rice Creek Watershed to install the trail accesses
to the park. In the interim, the neighborhood had submitted a
petition to the city. Please see the attached petition and color
coded map of the two resident petitions. Keep in mind that the
first petition may contain resident signatures that no longer wish
to be a part of the petition because of the new park location from
the original petition. At the time of the original petition the
park was being considered on the west side of the development.
The Rice Creek Watershed has subsequently made a decision on the
wetland issues of the development. They denied the trail going
through the pond on the north side but approved the a trail on the
south side as an access. Since the petitioners wish to have a
trail around the park, the recommendation was made to pursue the
purchase of an easement on the north side.
In reference to my letter to the neighborhood, I feel that the
petition is both appropriate and reasonable for the small area
