CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARR BOARD MEETING
MAY 3RD, 1993
also on cable tv.
Boardwalk Alternatives - This is a follow up to discussions from
the past two meetings regarding alternative walk-ways over
wetlands. The board asked Marty Asleson to pursue information
and compare costs of floating walk-ways. He and Jeff Schoenbauer
researched and took photos of several types of boardwalks ranging
from and 8' wide fixed-position boardwalk (wooden) with concrete
footings at the cost of $65 per lineal foot for materials and
installation to an 81 wide floating boardwalk with floating
polystyrene floats at a cost of up to $85 per lineal foot for
materials and installation. Mr. Schoenbauers opinion of the
different types of boardwalks is ". . . . the fixed-position boardwalk
is the best choice in that it has a natural aesthetical appeal, is
somewhat cheaper than the floating boardwalk, and has manageable
long-term maintenance concerns." He is not in favor of plastic
boardwalks because they do not look very natural. Marty noted that
he shares Mr. Schoenbauers opinion. There was some discussion
regarding the use of the fixed-position boardwalks being used in
the Brandywood area for the short links. Marty will try to get some
prices of installation from local contractors and get together with
George Lindy at Brandywood to look over the possibility.
Short Term Goals - Marty Asleson reported that the council has
approved expenditures on the short term goal list that was drafted
at the last meeting.
Parks and Recreation Updates -
1.
