CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
APRIL 5, 1993
land as recommended in the Comprehensive Plan. Marty Asleson wrote
John McClellan, Superintendent of Centennial School District
stating our intentions and inquiring as to the possibility of a
purchase here. Mr. McClellan contacted Marty to let him know that
the School District does not want to sell at this time.
Arbor Day/Earth Day Activities - Arbor Day activities will be held
twice on Friday, May 7th. In the morning at Rice Lake Elementary
and in the afternoon at Lino Lakes Elementary.
Earth Day Celebration activities are scheduled for Saturday May
Sth. After all the groups help to clean up the city, the
celebration and activities will be held at Country Lakes Park. The
city will receive Tree City USA award again for the fifth year in
a row. The DNR will be there with their characters, Woody and
Smokey the Bear. Margaret Langfeld, County Commissioner will also
be on hand, and there will be a Proclamation and other fun
activities. John Bauman has contacted several local organizations
,• for donations of food. Jacquelyn Farm will be there to sell plants
for the Friends of Lino Lakes Parks Foundation.
In the past this has been a five city effort through the
"Earthkeepers" group. This group has since been dissolved and Lino
Lakes is planning this event alone. A lot of effort and community
support will go to make this a very special event this year.
OTHER NEW BUSINESS:
Marty reported that he will have all the program plans ready for
review and a sample of the special revenue account to show at the
next meeting.
Rice Lake Estates Park - John Bauman inquired as to the status of
the Rice Lake Estates Park joint agreement with Circle Pines. Marty
Asleson will write another letter to Jim Keinath, Circle Pines City
Administrator. Apparently this agreement is supposed to take place
this year. Marty noted that if this arrangement doesn't work out
with Circle Pines, there may be some tax forfeit land available in
the area that would be worth pursuing.
Shore of Marshan Lake Trails Issue - George Lindy questioned the
progress of the wetland permit and trails issue in the Shores of
Marshan Lake Development. Marty Asleson has not heard that any
wetland permits have been issued to Mr. Menkveld so far. A "stop
work order" has been issued to Mr. Menkveld to halt construction
-- on all lakeshore lots here until this development is brought into
compliance with plans approved by the Rice Creek Watershed
5
