March 19, 1993
Mr. Dan Poepard
Director of Community Services
School District 1 831
6100 North 210th Street
Forest Lake, MN 55025
Dear Mr. Poepard
This letter is to follow up on a meeting that we had last fall to
discuss the possibilities of more use of the school facilities at
Lino Lakes Elementary. It was my conclusion after that meeting
that because of our differences in timing to publish program
information, and the short period of time that your facility
programmers generate program times to be published, that it becomes
very difficult to accomplish effective coordination efforts.
I pointed out at that meeting that we are trying to provide
recreational services to all of the residents of Lino Lakes and
that the use of the Lino Lakes Elementary School would help to
create some belief on the part of our Forest Lake School District
residents that they were included in our recreational programming
concerns. You explained to me that it is difficult to change
directions and provide space needs particularly considering the
fact that there was an established programmer, Mary Green, assigned
to the facility. You also explained that if Mary Green ever quit,
that we might than look at the possibilities of expanded facility
availability.
When Mary Green quit and was replaced with another person I feel
that we lost a good opportunity to follow through on the discussed
possibilities. I also feel that there has been duplication of
program efforts with your new programmer, Ms. Sharon Rosenow. Ms.
Rosenow has called our office to inquire about our instructors, and
has in some instances used our program titles to offer the same
programs. "Ball Sports" is an example of this, but there are other
duplications in Guitar Lessons, Aerobics, The Walkers Program and
in Track and Field in your Spring Brochure.
We wish to avoid an overlapping of programs, and we would like the
opportunity for our Lino Lakes residents on the northern tier of
the city to participate in our Parks and Recreation programs on
