AGENDA ITEM 14-A
STAFF ORIGINATOR Marty Asieson
DATE February 19, 1993
TOPIC Woods of Baldwin Lake Update
BACKGROUND
A special meeting was held by the Lino Lakes Park
and Recreation Board at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 6, at the
proposed park site in the Woods of Baldwin Lake Development. The
purpose of the meeting was to allow the Park Board an opportunity
to view the proposed site and answer questions concerning access
and usable open space. There was a good representation of the
neighborhood present. Basically, these folks had the same
questions;
There was agreement by the Park Board that the site should lend
itself to be a suitable short term (could possibly be long term) ,
although not ideal solution to finding public open space for the
neighborhood to use as a park. This would be a mini-park
essentially, and further efforts would be made to secure additional
land as it becomes available.
The motion was passed to accept the proposed park area for the
dedication requirements from the developer, with a couple of
conditions. One condition was to further review with the developer
the possibilities of re-shaping the pond so that a trail might be
installed on the east side for access.- The other condition was that
the Army Corps of Engineers would authorize this work to be done.
The motion was seconded and unanimously carried.
Please find enclosed a copy of a letter from Mr. Clyde Rehbein
concerning his `intents regarding these matters. Item no 2 states
that he is willing to construct a non-bituminous walking trail with
on-site material along the east property line. The walking trail`
will be approximately 8 feet by 250 feet and will begin at the
northeast corner of the property. Mr. Rehbein informed me that this
meant a gravel trail. He also indicated that the city would be
responsible for ,acquir'ng the necessary permits from the Corps. We
have acquired the permit application and are now waiting for the
wetland to be delineated.
OPTIONS
This is an update only at this point.
RBCO1rIMBND'1`ION
Proceed with the project
