AGENDA ITEM 4
r
MEMORANDUM
TO: All Park and Recreation Board Members
FROM: Marty Asleson
DATE: January 27, 1993
SUBJECT: Star of the North Games
We have been asked support the Star of the North Games. Through
Council Resolution this was done. The question of financial and
material support including the possibilities of facility support
were raised at a meeting that we had with the Centennial School
District's Facility Coordinator, Brian Hegseth. Brian is the
coordinating agent for this event from this area. This support, if
the games are determined to be needed on our facilities, would
include human resources.
I informed Mr. Hegseth that when he has more information on the
needs from the Star of the North Committee, that a budget would
need to be established so that we can obtain approval for
unbudgeted expenditures. We have not heard from him yet.
Please find attached some background information on these games and
note that they are allied with the Minnesota Recreation and Parks
Association on a promotional basis. MRPA is our professional group
in the state of Minnesota.
