2) DEDICATED PARK FUND BALANCE 8/31/87 $119, 902. 54 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> A. Chairman Ray Johnson requested at the last Park Board <br /> meeting the price that the Pratcher land sold for. The land <br /> sold for $75, 000. The Board thought this was a pretty good <br /> buy. <br /> B . Police Letter: The letter dated September 21, 1987 <br /> written to the Chief of Police, Dean Cambell regarding the <br /> opening of parks was discussed. The Park Board was <br /> concerned that the police officers aren' t doing their job . <br /> Don Volk suggested back-up systems, such as finding a <br /> resident near the parks and giving them a key to open up the <br /> park, if the park is not opened. Chairman Ray Johnson would <br /> like a letter written to Chief Campbell expressing the Park <br /> Boards thanks for his letter, but would like a little more <br /> effort on the oficers part to get our parks open ! The Park <br /> Board would like a response to this matter. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: Don Volk discussed the proposed budget for <br /> 1988 with the Park Board members. The Park Board members <br /> were concerned about funding of capital improvements. Don <br /> Volk discussed comments made by the City Council at Budget <br /> hearings. <br /> 1) Council felt that maybe the Park Board should look at <br /> amending City Code on Park Dedication as to make <br /> developers more responsible for the development of <br /> parks . Chairman Ray Johnson was in favor of looking <br /> at a amendment and suggested the city research this <br /> again. <br /> 2) It may be appropriate to develop and distribute a <br /> parks needs questionare to see whether an improvement <br /> bond should be considered. <br /> Continued New Business: Sandbur days were a success '. ! <br /> Circle Lex Lions are considering upgrading the electrical <br /> system at Sunrise Park with the profits from Sandbur days. <br /> Chairman Ray Johnson mentioned about the Circle Lex Lions <br /> may be interested in constructing a 5th ballfield at Sunrise <br /> Park. <br /> Don Volk suggested that City Planner, John Miller attend a <br /> future Park Board meeting. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 9: 30 p.m. <br />
