PARK BOARD Page 1 October 6, 1986 The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes Park Board was called to order by Chairman Ray Johnson at 7 : 00 P.M. , Monday, October 6, 1986. Boardmembers present : Ken Johnson, Baumann, James . Mr. Lindy joined the meeting at 7: 05 P.M. ; Mr. Flannery joined at 7: 15 P.M. Absent : Nissen. Others present were Don Volk, Public Works Director and Shar Foster, Secretary. 4 Mr. Volk said he would have to leave the meeting early and asked that the following items be discussed at this .time: ICE ARENA UPDATE Mr. Volk reported that he has not heard any further information with regard to the ice arena (which was proposed by the CACC during recent Park Board meetings) other than the fact that the CACC has now also approached the school district for a location for the ice arena. Mr. Volk felt that with the location offered by the City of Circle Pines and with negotiations going on with the school district , it appears uknlikely that the CACC will choose to locate in Lino Lakes. PROPOSED SCHOOL PROPERTY FOR CITY PARK USE Mr. Volk reported that the City Administrator attended a recent school board meeting to discuss the lease agreement proposed allowing the City of Lino Lakes to use school property off Birch Street for City park use. Mr. Volk compiled and forwarded additional information per the school board' s request . The City Administrator will attend the next school board meeting to further discuss and negotiate the terms. No problems are anticipated at this time. BMX TRACK INSURANCE Mr. Volk reported that the City has not heard back from the City insurance company as to the liability and premium question for coverage of the BMX track in Lino Park. The BMX Association is required by the City to provide insurance coverage for any association-sponsored activities at the track. Due to the fact that the association has experienced insurance and administration problems , activities have been canceled during the past season. Although there are some individuals involved with the BMX track who are interested in continuing the BMX track activities , it was felt by the Board that these individuals would experience problems similar to those experienced by the past association.
