PARK BOARD
September 3 , 1986
Page Four
NEW BUSINESS
BMX - Mr. Volk reported that in recent conversations with the
insurance investigating company, he has learned that BMX tracks
have become a very high risk operation and the investigator has
suggested that the City close the BMX track or , at a minimum
fence the track. Mr. Volk felt that the BMX track is a trend
which is quickly dying, particularly in light of the fact that
most BMX associations are operating either without insurance or
with inadequate insurance.
Ray Johnson explained that, through his work with the BMX track
he has learned that the association which operated in Lino Lakes
is trying to merge with another association and there have been
no races recently in Lino Lakes because of insurance problems.
Budget - Mr. Volk presented a very preliminary budget to the Park
Board showing maintenance, utilities , capital outlay, etc. of
$15,700 requested from general fund. The Board asked Mr. Volk
to raise that figure to $18, 700 to include some work for the
proposed school property. Any further suggestions for changes
should be brought to Mr. Volk' s attention as soon as possible.
The meeting adjourned at 9: 05 P.M.
