PARK BOARD
August 4, 1986
Page Three
PROPOSED SCHOOL PROPERTY
Ray Johnson updated the Board per a phone conversation with the City Administrator:
- The lease agreement has been given to Warren Tester on the School Board, and
the Superintendent and their lawyer are considering the lease. There has
been talk of changing the term of the lease from 15 years to 5 years renewable
annually thereafter-
- The farmer who presently uses the property has been promised use of the land
until November, therefore it is doubtful that the City could seed the ground
this fall to .begin establishment of turf.
BALDWIN LAKE PROPERTY
The City of St. Paul has sent to Lino Lakes more information regarding the Baldwin
Lake property which the City of Lino Lakes leases from the City of St. Paul.
A tour of the area was offered by the City of St. Paul, so that Lino Lakes
boardmembers could view the property to help make a decision as to whether or
not Lino Lakes wishes to purchase the land.
Mr. Volk agreed to let Mr. Schumacher know that the Park Board would like to tour
the area so that arrangements for the tour can be made.
Mr. Volk and Mr. Flannery thought that it would be wise to look into why the
City of St. Paul is interested in selling the property. Mr. Flannery volunteered
to do the necessary legwork (going through minutes; etc.) to try and learn the
motive for selling.
VANDALISM
Mr. Volk reported that no new vandalism reports have been filed since the last
meeting of the Park Board and that the Anoka County Crime Investigator assigned
to the Sunrise Park vandalism problem has not yet had a chance to look into the
vandalism report. Mr. Volk will be meeting with the Lino Lakes Police Chief
to try to establish a procedure for investigation of park vandalism reports on
the staff level rather than through the County Crime Department.
OLD BUSINESS
None.
NEW BUSINESS
Due to the Labor Day holiday in September, the Park Board will meet on Wednesday,
September 3, 1986 for their next meeting.
Chairman Johnson asked that each member be thinking about the changes they feel
should be made to the comprehensive plan with regard to future planning for parks.
The comp plan is in the process of an update. This item will be placed on the
September Park Board agenda.
. Mr. Lindy asked how a concerned citizen would 'go about requesting a park in a
particular area. Mr. Volk suggested a petition from the neighbors go to the
City Council.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
