PARK BOARD <br /> April 7, 1986 <br /> Page Three <br /> Mr. Nissen felt that one point which needs to be clarified within the lease <br /> is whether or not necessary grading would be considered an "improvement". He <br /> also suggested that the Park Board continue their plans for completing Shenandoah <br /> Park per the 5-year comprehensive plan before completing this new property. <br /> MOTION: Mr. Flannery moved to approve in principal the lease for 40 acres from <br /> the School Board and further negotiate the lease. Motion seconded by Ray Johnson. <br /> Carried unanimously. <br /> POLICE VANDALISM REPORTS <br /> The Board reviewed two reports of damage to park property. Mr. Volk stated that <br /> neither report had extensive damage and that the Police Department is now informed <br /> that some parks need to be locked and unlocked and are doing so as close as possible <br /> to the closing/opening times for the parks. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> BMX Track <br /> Ray Johnson reported that per a 217186 letter to Mr. Kleinhans from the BMX <br /> Association Board of Directors, Mr. Kleinhans is no longer the track/race <br /> director, and that no restitution has been made by Mr. Kleinhans for financial <br /> problems experienced. <br /> A schedule for races has not yet been determined nor has a director been named. <br /> Charlie and Janice Johnson are the tracks' president and secretary-treasurer <br /> respectively. <br /> Mr. Schumacher reminded Ray Johnson that the City needs a copy of the insurance <br /> for the BMX track just as has been required in past years. Mr. Johnson said he <br /> would take care of getting a copy to the City. <br /> Capital Improvements Plan <br /> At the next meeting, Boardmembers should be have ideas for tot lots planned for <br /> 1986.a <br /> Mr. Volk reported that there are a few Boy Scouts in the Centennial School District <br /> who are willing to make bird houses/picnic tables for the City as a project toward <br /> their Eagle Scout Badges. <br /> Mr. Volk also reported that as soon as the area is dry enough, the City crews will <br /> begin the necessary grading for athletic fields in Shenandoah Park. <br /> Park Tour <br /> The Board scheduled a tour of the new school property, Country Lakes Park and <br /> Shenandoah Park for 6:00 P.M. (before the regular meeting) on May 5, 1986. <br /> Mr. Flannery, Mr. Nissen and Mr. Lindy will meet at the school property at 6:00 <br /> P.M. Mr. Baumann, Ray Johnson, Ken Johnson and Mr. Bohjanen will meet at City <br /> Hall at 6:.100 P.M. and drive over to the school property. Mrs. Foster will notify <br /> Mr. Sacco of the tour. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Parking in Lino Park by Luthers Sport Shop <br /> Ray Johnson asked that the police be made aware of the fact that Luthers is again <br /> using not only the parking area at Lino Park for their business, but also are <br /> often seen parking on the grass. Police are asked to police the area. <br />
