PARK BOARD
February 3 , 1986
Pa e Four
kD
D. ERICKSON BUILDINGS PLAT
Mr. Volk showed the Park Board members the proposed plat for
99 homes off Birch Street (across from Lakes Addition) . At
this point this plat is shown as fuel for thought . It has
only begun the procedure of consideration by the Planning and
Zoning Board and City Council . No decision with regard to
park property needs to be made at this time .
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Nissen asked if the St . Paul Water .Works Department is ,
still leasing a piece of land near Baldw*n Lakejto the City.
Mr. Volk thought that the City was still leasing the land and
that St . Paul Water Works asked about a year ago if the City
wanted to purchase the land at quite a high price and the City
was not interested, thus the land is still leased at one dollar
per year.
NEW BUSINESS
Ray Johnson passed on an idea he has which could create more
parks for the City. Presently the School District owns approxi-
mately 40 acres near Elm Street and 60 acres off Birch Street
for future school needs . Mr. Johnson suggested approaching the
School Board to see if they would be open to having the City
develop a playground, ballfields , etc . on these properties which
could be used until the School District needed to build on the
property. There were no objections by Board members . Mr. Johnson
will go ahead and approach the School Board with this idea and
report back to the Park Board at their next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 9 : 10 by motion from Ken Johnson, seconded
by Mr. Lindy. Aye.
