PARK BOARD
February 3 , 1986
Page Three
for park purposes . Several responses voiced no interest in
selling property and also the opinion that additional park
property is not necessary.
Mr. Rehbein stated that the City would probably receive a
donation of approximately 18 acres . Mr. Volk felt that this
would be adequate for a park.
The Board recommended to Council that the Council work with
Mr. Rehbein and assist in the necessary steps to bring this
concept to a reality. The Board felt that the City Attorney
and City Engineer would need to be involved in protecting the
City' s interest .
SIGNS FOR SUNRISE AND COUNTRY LAKES PARKS
Mr. Volk reported that the signs for Sunrise Park and Country
Lakes Park have been built and will be put up after the frost
leaves the ground. He also reported that he has again approached
the Circle-Lex Lions Club and informed them that should they be
interested in donating funds toward the sign for Sunrise Park,
that the Park Board would not necessarily need the funds immediately,
but a commitment for sometime in 1986 . The Lions Club will be
meeting and Mr. Volk will report back at next month' s Park Board
meeting what decision the Lions make.
SUNSET OAKS PARK DEDICATION
Mr. Schumacher has been working with the City Attorney with regard
to the outstanding cash dedication from Sunset Oaks . Mr. Schumacher
was unable to attend this evening's meeting, therefore this item
will be discussed at the next Park Board meeting.
COUNTRY LAKES PARK
Boat Launch - Mr. Lindy and Mr. Nissen toured County Lakes Park
on snowshoes to find a most suitable site for a boat launch.
They recommended clearing out a strip northwest of the beach
area for a passive/carry-on launch site. Mr. Volk, Mr . Lindy and
Mr. Nissen will report at the next meeting , a proposed plan and
approximate cost involved.
Dock - Mr . Volk brought a drawing of a proposed dock. The plan
calls for heavy duty steel piping and 2" redwood bolted on to
a SO' dock. Railings could be added for the deep end and as
the law requires . The construction of the dock could be taken
care of by the city crew. One of the city staff has built a
dock of this design and would lend his experience . Mr . Volk
stated that the costs involved are as close as he could estimate
and that actual cost may deviate slightly from the $3 , 344 estimate.
Mr. Sacco moved to accept the plans for the dock and have Mr .
Volk instruct the city crew to begin construction. Ken Johnson
seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
