PARK BOARD August 13 , 1985 Chairman Ken Johnson called to order the August 13 , 1985 meeting at 7 : 08 P.M. This was a regular monthly meeting , although the date was changed from the first Monday of the month to the second Tuesday. Members present : Scherer , Ray Johnson , Sacco. Members absent : Nissen, Lindy, Flannery. Also present : Don Volk, Public Works Director; Shar Foster, Secretary. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES - July 1 , 1985 Ray Johnson moved to approve the minutes of the July 1 , 1985 meeting as presented. Mr. Sacco seconded the motion which carried unanimously. SUNSET OAKS PARK DEDICATION Ken Johnson referred to a letter dated 7/31/85 from the attorney for the Sunset Oaks developer, Tilsen Properties . This letter was received by the City in response to the 7/10/85 letter which the City sent to Tilsen asking for specific lots and money for park dedication. The concensus of the Board was that Tilsen Properties was offering the City marginal or unbuildable land for park dedication rather than agreeing to dedicate the lots which were requested by the Park Board and City Council , and that the Park Board should stand by the decision which was made earlier this year and pursue the lots which have been requested. MOTION: Ray Johnson moved to pursue Lots 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 of Block 2 in Sunset Oaks as park dedication and the remainder of park dedication due the City in the form of money and park development as stated in the July 1 , 1985 Park Board minutes . Should the City Council find it necessary to request legal assistance from the City Attorney, the Park Board would back such a decision. Motion was seconded by Mr. Sacco and carried unanimously. Chairman Johnson asked that this item appear on next month ' s agenda for an update . CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PLAN Mr. Volk presented a rough draft of what he felt would be a capital improvements plan for the next five yearsand explained that there are many items listed in 1986 totaling a very large dollar figure . Of these items , the Park Board needs to set priorities -- the last priorities will be moved back to later years . He stated that the Park Board will not likely be receiving any sizable amount of money through park dedications in the near future and will have to bank on the generosity of the City allocating money from the general fund for parks .
