PARK BOARD
July 1 , 1985
- Page Three
MOTION: (continued) The four lots which are being requested
are those decided upon by the Park Board at our February, 1985
meeting. There seems to be some question as to whether or not
those lots are sold or not . Mr. Stanley has not made himself
available to answer that question, even though he has been re-
quested to attend several recent Park Board meetings . The Park
Board feels that these four lots are in the most appropriate
location for future park purposes . The four adjoining lots rep-
quested for park purposes are to be completed in the future with
tot lot equipment and also a ballfield with the funds which are
now to be placed in escrow (or letter of credit) .
The motion was seconded by Mr . Lindy and carried unanimously .
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN AND PARK IMPROVEMENTS
Chairman Johnson asked to combine these two agenda items since
they relate to one another. Mr . Volk reported the following
improvements and their status :
- Fencing of the ballfields at Sunrise Park and City Hall
Park is underway. When this is completed all fields will
be fenced and in excellent condition.
- The signs requested by the Park Board to show how to get
to the tennis courts at Arena Acres have been put up .
- The signing package which includes "stop , parking , entry,
no vehicles beyond , no swimming, picnic area, fishing ,
trails , etc. " for Country Lakes Park has been put on hold .
The park needs further development before signing .
- The beach at Country Lakes Park will not open until next
summer. It was mentioned that the beach will probably be
more of a wading beach than a swimming beach because it
is very shallow.
- The Park Department is putting together information to see
what the cost will be to maintain Country Lakes Park (as
requested by the Park Board) .
- Country Lakes Park is being developed as the regular City
crew can work on it . It is necessary to show improvement
to those providing funding, but as long as this is satisfied ,
it is not felt necessary to hire on extra help to expedite
the development .
- At the Park Board' s request , Mr. Volk agreed to contact the
,. contractor to have some junk removed which was left behind
after dredging Country Lakes Park.
