PARK BOARD
February 4, 1985
Page Three
NEW BIISINESS
There was no new business.
OLD BIISINESS
Mr. Ray Johnson gave a financial statement from the BMX track
covering May , 1984 to September, 1984 to the secretary and asked
that copies be placed in the packet along with next month' s agenda.
Mr. Flannery asked about the recent snowmobile fatality in the
County Park. Mr. Volk reported what he had heard about the accident ,
and agreed to place flag tape of the cables stretched across the
popular snowmobiling trails to try to avoid any such accident
in Lino Lakes.
A letter has been received from the St . Paul Water Commission
in response to our question to them last spring with regard to
possible purchase of a parcel of land they have leased to the
City for $1.00 per year for approximately fifteen years. Their
letter states that they would sell the parcel in the Baldwin Lake
area for anywhere from $40,000 to $50,000.
Mr. Schumacher said that the $1. 00 per year lease will terminate
this year. The Board felt that the $40 - 50,000 figure was way
out of line.
Mr. Ray Johnson moved to have the City staff write a letter to
St. Paul Water Commission stating that the City would not be inter-
ested in purchasing the parcel at the price quoted in their
letter of November 6 , 1984. Mr. Scherer seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously.
The Board received a copy of the letter sent from the City at
the request of the Park Board on behalf of John MacDonald with
regard to the jurisdiction question surrounding the silting problem
caused by a ditch on Centerville Road running into Centerville
Lake. This item was discussed and is outlined in the November
5, 1985 Park Board minutes.
It appears that neither State Paul Water Works , the DNR, the
County, nor Rice Creek Watershed District claims responsibility
or jurisdiction for this problem and thus the problem is the
landowners. The Board asked the City staff to notify the land-
owner, particularly John MacDonald, and make him aware of this
situation. Mr. Schumacher agreed to do so.
The task of appointing a Chairman for the 1985 Park Board will
appear as an agenda item for the next meeting.
Mr. Ray Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting at 9: 00 P.M. Mr.
Flannery seconded the motion. Aye.
