PARK BOARD
February 4, 1985
Page Two
1985 BUDGET AND 1984 CASH FLOW
Mr. Schumacher reported that $6, 000 has been put into the Park
Department budget from the General Fund, which is a new action
in 1985. With the development of the Country Lakes Park, it was
evidently felt that this was a necessary action. The Board was
pleased and hope this sets a precedent for future years.
Mr. Schumacher also pointed out that some of the figures on the
Cash Flow Analysis may be misleading, such as the negative $43,000
figure under LawCon Grant . The City is presently in the process
of submitting for reimbursement for this amount .
Mr. Lindy entered the meeting at 7 : 45 P.M.
Mr. Volk explained that the entire City ' s budget for disease tree
control falls in the Park Department budget rather that a separate
budget for 'Forestry ' just for this item. There is a person on
board trained and working in this area. The $6 ,000 figure allotted
covers the whole City and is directed toward the developed resi-
dential districts.
The figure of $1,000 to Centennial Recreation was questioned.
It was explained what the Centennial Recreation Department does
and that it generally is for Centennial School District . The
Board questioned why no money is budgeted for the other school
districts. Mr. Volk said there has never been a request from
the other districts.
SUNSET OAKS PARK DEDICATION
Mr. Volk and Mr. Schumacher reported that after consulting with
Mr. Stanley , the developer of Sunset Oaks, the following was learned:
- Mr. Stanley said he spent $8,600 for tot lot equipment and
used one acre (a worth of $1 , 500) from his subdivision.
His total amount spent for park totals $10, 100.
- The total subdivision is approximately 280 acres. At $1,500
per acre (this is a value used by the City for computation
purposes) , this totals $420, 000.
- Park dedication is figured at 10% of the $420,000 figure,
which equals $42, 000 as the total park dedication Mr. Stanley
should pay for his total subdivision.
- $42,000 less the $10, 100 already spent by Mr. Stanley leaves
an amount of $31,900 or 21 acres that Mr. Stanley still owes.
The Board discussed the option of 21 acres, or $31, 900 or a combina-
tion of the two, and after studying the map of the subdivision
the following motion was made.
r. Mr. Ray Johnson moved to have the City staff contact Mr. Stanley
asking for Lots 13, 14, 15 and 16 of Block 2 of his subdivision
to be used as park and the balance of the park dedication in cash.
Mr. Scherer seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Schumacher and Mr. Volk agreed to take responsibility for
the negotiation with Mr. Stanley.
