Park Board <br /> June 4 , 1984 <br /> (continued) <br /> bike paths throughout the City . Included in the plan would be a hook-up <br /> with the Shoreview system on Highway 49 . Mr. Schumacher also reported <br /> that he recieved notification that a special state committee is looking <br /> into the possibility of returning the responsibility for roads to the <br /> cities and counties which may affect the bike trail situation , and that <br /> he will periodically check the bike grant application situation . <br /> COUNTRY LAKES PARK UPDATE <br /> it was reported to the Board that approximately the end of August or <br /> beginning of September , the golf course will be closing for the addition <br /> of an expansion (9 holes and driving range and new access) . There are <br /> also plans for an eventual restaurant. <br /> Mr. Schumacher reported that the pumping and drenching activities for the <br /> beach area are going on and that the road is approximately two-thirds <br /> completed . Scheduled completion in a couple weeks . <br /> The Board discussed the method being used by Bald Eagle Lake for weed <br /> control versus the chemical method being used at this site , but agreed <br /> that the expense of this method is far less . <br /> The plan for this siteincludes a 300-foot beach , bath house , access area , <br /> play area and removal of brush for trails . <br /> Mr. Lindy brought to the attention of the Board the hazard involved when <br /> fishers park on West Shadow Lake Road near the creek, and this has become <br /> a problem forthe nearby residents . Motion was made by Mr. Lindy to recom- <br /> mend to Council that the City establish a "no parking" area in the hazard <br /> area (area designation at the discretion of the Public Works Director) . <br /> Motion seconded and carried. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> A question was raised by Mr. Arntzen in regards to the $3200-$3500 which <br /> was dedicated to grading and seeding Shenandoah Park. Mr. Volk will have <br /> responsiblity of checking into this matter, as well as the matter of the <br /> outfield fence in the park . <br /> At this time , Chairman Johnson read Mr. Arntzen 's letter of resignation <br /> from the Board, due to his relocating out of the city . Regrets were <br /> given and thanks extended to Mr. Arntzen for his contribution to the <br /> Board. Mr. Schumacher will forward a request to the Council to fill <br /> this vacancy . <br /> Mr. Ray Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Mr . Nissen . Aye. <br />
