Park Board <br /> February 6, 1984 <br /> page three <br /> Mr. Arntzen moved to make application for the bikeway grant and to indicate <br /> the bikeway to be along Highway #49 from County Road #23 on the South to <br /> County Road #23 on the North. Seconded by Mr. Flannery. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> Mr. Volk said he would report back to the Park Board with any information <br /> he received on this matter. <br /> PROJECTS COMPLETED - 1983 <br /> The various projects that were completed in the City Parks during 1983 <br /> was noted. Some projects that had been planned but not done was discussed. <br /> The work being done in Country Lakes Park was reported by MR. Volk and <br /> briefly discussed. <br /> The projects for 1984 for the parks and the amounts to be spent in each <br /> park was reported and discussed. Mr. Volk suggested some type of parking <br /> lot for the tennis courts in Arena Acres be done this year. HE felt that <br /> diagonal parking for approximately 15 cars should be sufficient . There was <br /> also discussion on the development of a tot lot for this area. <br /> The tot lots in the various parks was discussed for projects that should <br /> be considered this summer. <br /> Mr. K. Johnson asked Mr . Volk to present some figures for benches , land- <br /> '^ scaping, tot lot at Arena Acres, and some of the other items that had been <br /> discussed this evening. <br /> The Park Board asked about the signs they had approved for posting in <br /> the parks restricting motorized vehicles. Mr. Volk said this had been <br /> presented to the Council and they had decided to wait for a year to study <br /> how much damage is done by these vehicles. Mr. Volk said there is very <br /> little damage done and usually it is something the crew can repair in a <br /> few hours. <br /> The matter of the proposed smowmobile trail along Sunrise Park was questioned. <br /> Mr. Volk reported this is still in the planning stages and probably will not <br /> be ready for use until the 1984/85 season. <br /> Mr. R. Johnson asked about the use of plastic fenc - could this be used <br /> for outfield fences for the ball fields? Mr. Volk said he would prefer <br /> the chain link fence but the plastic fence would be quite adequate for the <br /> outfield fences. Also, they would be much safer than the snow fence. <br /> Mr. K. Johnson reported on his meetings with Circle Pines Park Board on <br /> the use of Baldwin Park in relationship to the Rice Lake Estates - He felt <br /> very little progress, if any, had been accomplished. Each time he meets <br /> with this Board, a whole new set of concerns are presented. <br /> BMX TRACK REPORT <br /> The letter from Mr. Kleinhans was read and discussed. The need for some <br />
