City of Liao Lakes
Park Board Meeting
r--. August 5, 1996
residents can bring other issues to the board for approval . It
is the Park Boards contention that the ballfield will not be
scheduled.
George wanted to hear the members opinion on the berming issue
and went around the table.
Betty supports a berm at the playground and at the residents
property line. She does not support rolling berms . She said to
be careful of what is put on the berms . She feels the board
should be flexible and residents should be able to come before
the board, when they have an issue, and be heard.
Paul opposed the berms . Privacy should be done by vegetation
All privacy issues should be handled by residents on their land.
We can' t handle all their problems .
Pam supported the berms but thought they should not be too high
and should not cause a drainage problem. Had concerns about
erosion of the berms . She feels each park should be looked at
A*-N individually and dealt with when it is brought before the board.
Joe was concerned about adding dirt rather than vegetation.
Supports strategically placed vegetation not berms . He is afraid
this will turn into a big lake. People need to address privacy
issues themselves . A decision should not be made tonight and the
residents should give the trees time to grow because they will
probably branch out and be a natural block. He said the board
needs to address each area as the people come before the board.
Sharon thinks a 5' high berm is too high but does like a few
slightly rolling area. Needs passage ways from open area into
the playground area. She also felt each issue should be dealt
with when it is brought before the board.
Amy was afraid of setting a precedent. She thought the board
should address each issue as it arises . She feels the three
residents should be helped. A 5' high berm is too high but
thinks a 3 ' berm is a nice height. There should be a small curve
to the berm. Also, be careful with drainage. Use native
vegetation rather than imports . Wild flowers with wild life
feeds would be nice in this area. O.K. to have a more open
playground area. Preserve oak trees don' t cut into the oak
roots.
4
