r It is anticipated that we will either use a well for irrigation on this site or
city water if and when it becomes available from the north. Back-flow prevention
will be used at this site.
E. Geology and Soils:
There are no interesting, unique or fragile geologic formations on this site.
The predominant soils on this site are shown as Hayden loam(non-hydric soils) on
the SCS map for Anoka County. The areas near the wetlands are labeled as Lw
(loamy wetland) on the SCS map. Much of the site is cultivated and therefore the
soil profiles are disturbed.
These soils support the type of facility the city wishes to build on this site.
The site for the most part on the non-hydric soils is well drained, with a higher
buffering and moisture holding capacities.
F. Mineral Resources:
There are no mineral deposits or peat deposits on this site.
G. Air Quality and Noise:
There will be the normal amount of noise associated with this athletic
complex in relation to organized sport. Since the area is out of the urban service
area there is no high density housing in this area. The building of the athletic
complex will however result in much reduced amounts of noise in neighborhood
r park areas that are now being programmed due to the lack of facilities.
Furthermore, the hours of noise are controlled by city ordinance. There is no
anticipated air pollution from this facility.
H. Historical and Archaeological Significance:
There are no known historic or archaeological features on this site. We are
awaiting further word from the Archaeological Society. The site is not to our
knowledge registered or eligible for nomination to the National Register of
Historic Places.
L Transportation:
Road construction to the north on 12a'Ave and Holly Drive is now being
done to facilitate the development occurring in this area. It is at this time
questionable whether the remaining road section to County Road J will be needed.
In a traffic study done by the engineering firm of Short Elliot and
Hendrickson, it was shown that traffic to and from the athletic complex is expected
to add approximately 330 trips a day on Holly Drive. South of the athletic
complex driveway, the project is expected to add nearly 1,000 trips a day. The
athletic complex would add traffic directly to County Road J. Trips were
estimated on heavy summer use of the athletic complex. The trips would be
significantly less during the winter months. Since a good portion of the trips to the
facility are via a county road the impacts to residential areas is minimal Again the
construction of this facility would also alleviate traffic in our neighborhood parks
