City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> \ April 1, 1996 <br /> Friends of the Park Update: Betty gave an update on the golf <br /> tournament . A brochure was included in the members packets . She <br /> said they are starting to get corporate sponsors for holes . She <br /> reported that they are looking for golfers and said $30 dollars <br /> of the registration fee is tax deductible. Marty said the Senior <br /> Center will be preparing the food for this tournament . <br /> Marty showed the members a mock check the Friends received from <br /> Target Industries for $1, 000 . This grant money is going to be <br /> used for Performance in the Parks this summer. He said they were <br /> one of four organizations to receive a grant this year. <br /> Other Updates and Old Business: <br /> NYSCA Coaches Clinic - Marty is very proud of the job Barry is <br /> doing with this program. He said Barry certified approximately <br /> 150 participants at the last two clinics . Marty passed out a <br /> handout on the NYSCA Program. <br /> Earth Day Update - Finals plans are taking place. Marty went <br /> over the activities that will be offered this year. There will <br /> be a ceremony at the Wargo Nature Center with the quad cities <br /> invited. He explained that all four cities have participated in <br /> the planning for this event again this year. Marty included a <br /> copy of the Earth Day 1996 Resolution that was approved by the <br /> City Council . He urged members to come to Wargo to join in the <br /> celebration. He thanked Kim Sullivan, Jackie Constant, and John <br /> and Connie Bauman for all the work they are doing on this event . <br /> The Lions Club will be doing a memorial tree planting for members <br /> that have passed away. <br /> Tree City USA Award - Once again the City of Lino Lakes has been <br /> named as a 1995 Tree City USA. This year' s ceremony will be at <br /> Lino Lakes Elementary School on May 31 . Marty told the Park <br /> Board Members he would be very happy to see them at the ceremony. <br /> Forestry Update - Marty explained that he is working on <br /> contracted tree plantings this year. He will be sending out bids <br /> in the near future. City staff will still plant between 200 and <br /> ''IN 250 trees this year also. <br /> NEW BUSINESS• <br /> 4 <br />
