City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
April 1, 1996
Brandywood Boardwalk - After the rinks were done Mike Hoffman
went in and graded where the boardwalk would go in off of Velvet
Leaf Lane, however, because of the spring thaw it has been too
wet to get into the area to put the footings in. Will try to get
in there after it dries up and it should not be too hard to
finish. George said the neighborhood expressed interest in
working on this .
Playground Repairs - Dave Lichtshiedl has been working on
retrofitting the playgound equipment the best he can. Marty said
he is doing a very good job on what can be repaired. If the
piece of equipment can not be fixed it will removed. Marty said
he will have to try to get money in the maintenance fund budget
to replace some of the equipment .
Trail Stubs - Marty reported that Michael Krech is working on the
drawings for trail stubs .
Environmental Issues - Marty said he met with Professor Bolsted
and he has a class that wants to get involved in a manageable
project . They may be able to work on an inventory project in the
Sewer District 5 area.
Country Lakes Park - City staff will seed when able to get into
the park. Marty said the ice storm caused a lot of damage to the
trees in the park.
Recreation Update: Marty discussed the Warminghouse Season
Summary that Barry Bernstein prepared for the Park Board Members .
Pam asked why the closed day figures varied from park to park.
Marty explained Barry' s policy on cold weather days . He told
members the warminghouse shelter is always opened but would close
1 to 2 hours later. Barry is concerned about the kids that are
home alone and walk to the rinks only to find that they are
closed. It is better to have them go inside to get warm than
immediately return home on extremely cold days .
Joe asked about the numbers at Country Lakes Park. George said
this was a very bad winter for lake ice.
Marty said the volleyball and basketball leagues have finished
and soccer has begun. He went on to say we are taking
registrations for summer adult and youth programs . The softball
leagues are filling very fast .
3
