4 b.
AGENDA ITEM
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Marty Asleson
DATE: February 26, 1996
TOPIC: Brauer and Associates, Jeff Schoenbauer
BACKGROUND
Jeff Schoenbauer has notified me that he is going to take a year
sabbatical to tie up some projects with the national Recreation
and Parks Association, as well as do some traveling with his
wife . Jeff has indicated that if there any projects that we have
planned for 1996, he would like to work on them for us and will
place a high priority on the projects . Jeff ' s partner George
Watson will be available in Jeff ' s absence.
One project that I would really like to have Jeff work on is the
Joint Park in Rice Lake Estates with the City of Circle Pines .
Michale Krech is presently working on the base-mapping for this
plan. Jim Keinath, Circle Pines City Administrator has indicated
that we still do not have language from their attorney.
The question that I pose is do you want to proceed with the park
plan and hope that this stimulates a quicker response to an
agreement . I 'm starting to feel this is the missing link to
further progress .
I would like to proceed with this approach, or have the park
board address the concerns of this neighborhood. I believe that
you will have some angry residents if nothing is accomplished
this year.
Since Jeff Schoenbauer has been involved with both the City of
Lino Lakes and City of Circle Pines in the Comprehensive Plan
process, I would like Jeff to master-plan this park. Jeff knows
the issues and personalities on both sides .
OPTIONS
1 . Proceed with master planning
2 . Notify neighborhood of time frames
3 . Refer back to staff for other coarse of action
RECOMMENDATION
I would prefer option 1, it is however a risk.
