City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> October 6, 1997 <br /> PARKS - UPDATE: <br /> Sunrise Park: Barry gave an update of Sunrise Park. He showed <br /> plans on the overhead. Barry explained there are three projects <br /> being done in this park. They are replacement of a hockey rink, <br /> playground equipment and backstop. The funding of these projects <br /> will address a number of existing safety concerns at this park. <br /> The addition of these elements will make Sunrise Park a much <br /> safer and inviting park for the residents of Lino Lakes . <br /> Kim asked if there was going to be additional lighting for Little <br /> League. Barry said there would be no lighting. <br /> Rice Lake Estates Park: Barry explained that Marty Asleson is <br /> working on this issue. Barry included a memo from Marty in the <br /> packets . Barry said the project is moving forward. <br /> Barry put a plan of this park on the overhead. Barry said the <br /> trail comes in by the wellhouse and may need to be moved, into <br /> the wetland area, if it cannot follow the property line due to <br /> residents concerns . Kate Drewry will be walking this area again <br /> since the city may want to move it . He said moving the trail <br /> southwesterly would be more attractive. <br /> Barry said Baldwin Park does have some play structures in it . We <br /> are currently using Baldwin for soccer. <br /> YMCA - UPDATE: <br /> Barry reported the committee seeking a possible YMCA center met <br /> recently. A market study is going to be conducted in the near <br /> future. The City and YMCA, St . Paul, will be sharing the cost of <br /> the market study. The YMCA secured an agency to do the market <br /> study. The study will indicate if a possible YMCA could attract <br /> enough people to make it in Lino Lakes . Pam asked what the cost <br /> of the survey would be. Barry responded $20, 000 with the city <br /> paying half of the cost . Sharon wanted to know if this was going <br /> to be in the Town Center. Barry said yes . Paul asked about <br /> operating costs . Barry said 300 - 500 members were needed to <br /> make the project go. There was discussion on what area they <br /> hoped to draw clients from. Barry thought the radius was 9 <br /> miles . He will keep the Park Board informed of the progress . <br /> FRIENDS OF THE PARK UPDATE: <br /> Barry said they had a closing meeting on the golf tournament . <br /> They collected approximately $4, 000 that will be used to enhance <br /> 5 <br />
