City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> July 7, 1997 <br /> The July 7, 1997, City of Lino Lakes Park Board meeting was <br /> called to order at 6 :35pm, by Chair, George Lindy. <br /> Roll call was taken, members present were George Lindy, Betty <br /> Piper, Paul Montain, Joe Schmidt, Pam Taschuk, Kim Sullivan and <br /> Sharon Lane. <br /> Also present were Barry Bernstein, Recreation Program Supervisor, <br /> and Sandie Wood, Recording Secretary. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE MAY 5, 1997 MEETING: <br /> Kim Sullivan made a motion to approve the May 5, 1997 minutes . <br /> Pam Taschuk seconded, and the minutes were approved as written. <br /> OPEN MIKEā¢ <br /> Ray Macheledt and Pat Mahr presented a concept plan for Sunrise <br /> Park baseball fields . Pat gave background information on the <br /> Chain of Lakes Little League and the number of kids in the <br /> program. He said there is approximately 117 teams currently in <br /> Little League and it grows 4-5 teams each year (approx. 1500 <br /> kids) . He then talked about funding from concessions and revenue <br /> from tournaments . The long term goal is to light the fields so <br /> they can get more use out of the fields. George wanted to know <br /> what they proposed for lighting. Pat said they were not going to <br /> light them now but in the future. George then asked if there was <br /> any lighting at Sunrise now. Barry said only the hockey rink is <br /> lit . <br /> Pam had questions about parking, with the addition of another <br /> field, because she knew there had been a problem in the past . <br /> Barry talked about the existing parking and overflow lot . <br /> r <br /> Paul asked what age they were trying to target . Pat said they <br /> are targeting the 11-12 year olds with raised mound field but <br /> they will be able to play minors on the fields too. <br /> Paul also asked how long the fields are used during the year. <br /> Pat said they are using the fields generally 5 days a week and <br /> some Saturdays from the beginning of April through mid August . <br /> Paul asked if they had a ball park figure for the total <br /> reconfiguration of the park. Pat said the surveying, grade and <br /> stakes is $4, 000, fencing is approximately $16, 000, irrigation <br /> $12, 000, ag-lime about $2100 . They did not have a total figure <br /> but hoped they would get help from the city (heavy equipment <br /> 1 <br />
