CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
 DECEMBER 2, 1996
Marty said the Trails Committee met on November 27 to review and
made a recommendation to the Park Board concerning the trail
amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for trail section No. 1 in
the Parks and Trails Comprehensive plan.
Marty said one option is to modify the Comprehensive Plan to the
green shaded area on the "City of Lino Lakes Park Trail Proposal"
map. The other option is to recommend modifying the
Comprehensive Plan to the dashed line alignment in the "City of
Lino Lakes Park Trail Proposal" map. This would abandon trail
segment 18 along the west side of Marshan Lake, north of the
Shores of Marshan, and merging it with trail segment #1 in the
Comprehensive Plan via. An easement through the church.
Marty recommended both options . For the very short-term,
recommend the 4th Avenue alignment, and, a change on the east
side for the 49 transportation trail .
There was discussion about the placement of the trail on the east
side of Lake Drive because there was such a deep ditch.
George said we have to be sensitive in retrofitting trails in a
situation like this . It is out of the question to put it in
someone' s backyard that is already existing.
MOTION•
Paul Montain made a motion, seconded by Joe Schmidt, that the
West side Lake Drive trail would have first priority as a
transportation trail to the City Center, with a 1997 completion
date. This trail would head through the light industrial area.
The bypass Marshan Lake Trail via easement through Gesthemane
Methodist Church and Lake Drive would be implemented in a 3-5
year period. The present trail alignment around Marshan Lake, to
be installed in 20 years+, will be deleted from the Comprehensive
Plan.
Joe asked if there were any plans to widen Lake Drive . Mr. Winge
said there had been a meeting about 3 weeks ago on this issue.
The Park Board passed the motion unanimously.
CITY SURVEY - SUMMARY:
Bill Morris from Decision Resources was present to discuss the
park and recreation section of the city survey. He told the
board the methodology in doing this survey. He talked about the
5
