AGENDA ITEM
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Marty Asleson
DATE: December 17, 1996
TOPIC: Cottage Homesteads of Willow Ponds, Land Transfer
BACKGROUND
This item was looked at briefly at a previous Park Board meeting in
September. A Pre-Park Board field session was scheduled for
September to view this land. The Board at that time thought this
would be a good idea and to pursue it when the details were worked
on.
Council Member Neal has requested the Board look at this in
January. Please find attached a map and letter from Mr. Terry
Schmid of the Cottage Homesteads of Willow Ponds.
Basically, Cottage Homesteads will deed to the City this land for
the sum of $1 . 00 From the original discussions of this site it was
determined that the seniors needed a small gathering spot for
gardening, picnic tables, or other.
This area would suffice for these purposes and has irrigation
available.
The criteria for a mini-park are marginal distance from a regional
park, isolation by a busy road, and high density housing such as
town homes or senior cottage buildings. This area would meet all
of these criteria.
i
