Jr
Memorandum
DATE: November 15, 1996
TO: Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Board
FROM: Marty Asleson
RE: Follow-up, Skate Board Parks
CC: Mitch Rehbein
The following information on skate board ramps was presented at the MRPA conference
in Duluth this Fall. The attached information is the results of a two-year effort to build a
facility in the City of Burnsville. The partners in this effort were the students of School
District 191, School District 931 itself, and the City of Burnsville Parks and Recreation
Department. Berkley Risk Management was also part of the conference presentation. I
have attached their information as well.
It seems that whenever this issue has been discussed at many different Park Board
meetings of different cities, the answer has always been"this is a great idea", "but"...The
"buts" are all of the reasons that were brought up at our meeting that involved liability and
risk management.
This group has dissected the problems and came up with ways to accomplish this vision.
The group has had a set of plans designed by a professional architect who has signed-off
on the construction details. These plans are available for $99.50.
r1.
