Summer Program Update : Open Playground Program The open playground program, which well be held June 15 -July 31 and run Monday- Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, is off to a great start. We have hired 20 seasonal staff to run this program. They are full of ideas and are eager to work with the youth of Lino Lakes. This program will include theme weeks this year. Each week's activities will be centered around a theme. Themes for this year include: School's Out For The Summer;Let's Rock- n-Roll; America The Beautiful;Lights, Camera Action;Wild, Wild, West; Surfin Safari; and Around the World in 5 days. Special events for the theme weeks include: a sock-hop, 4th of July celebration,talent show, gold rush, beach parry, and an international carnival. Program locations: Inner Park, Sunrise Park, Sunset Oaks Park, Birch Park,Birchwood Acres Park, Lino Park and Country Lake Park. ^ Traveling Playground Program The traveling playground program which will be held June 15 -July 31 and run Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Golden Lake Elementary and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 5:00 at Baldwin Park, is also off to a great start. This program will operate in a similar fashion to the open playground,but with fewer activities due to the shorter amount of time spent at each park. Wild Away For A Day Trips The"Wild Away For A Day"trips for this summer are geared to fit into the theme weeks that will be conducted at the playgrounds. This summer's trips are going to be held on Wednesdays throughout the month of July. Trips include: an outing to the MN Zoo and Imation IMAX, a hayride at Diamond T Ranch, a wet and wild day at the St. Louis Park Rec. Center- Aquatic Park and a trip to the National Sports Center for a MN Thunder game. Preschool Playtime This program is being reworked and revamped this summer in order to accommodate the requests and comments of past participants. Activities will be designed especially for the 3-5 year old age level and will include crafts, sports and creative play activities. This program will involve activities that revolve around the participants use of their five senses as well as discovering the world around them.
