Soccer"Fun"damentals This program is designed to teach youth, ages 4-9, basic ball handling techniques as well as the concept of team play. This program will run for eight sessions with increasingly more challenging soccer skills taught throughout the program. The final sessions will include informal games between participants and between staff and participants. Sports Zone This program is designed for youth ages 6-12 years of age. Participants will get the opportunity to play soccer, kickball, softball and baseball all in one program. Children will play a variety of games as well as learn the needed skills and techniques for these sports. Sensational Summer Adventures Day Camp This camp will be held August 3 - 7 from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm at Country Lakes Park. This camp is designed for youth ages 7-9 years of age. Camp activities will be focused on outdoor skills. Participants will learn fire building techniques, how to pitch a tent, tree identification, how to pack for the outdoors and how to have fun on all outdoor adventures. The camp will also include field trips to Como Zoo in St. Paul for a scavenger hunt and to William O'Brien State Park for hiking and a naturalist led program. Marketing Fliers advertising our summer programs have been sent to area elementary schools. We also have our programs advertised in the City of Circle Pines newsletter and the Quad Community press. We are also putting up a display at Rice Creek Elementary that features pictures and activities of our summer playground program. Fall Programs I am looking into starting teen activities for this upcoming fall season. Activities will be focused around the desires of the teens as well as some adventure programming activities such as: camping, rock-climbing, and canoeing. I am also working on a Halloween special event with M.A.R.S. (Metro Area Recreators) for area youth that would involve visiting haunted houses and hayrides. For the Thanksgiving holiday season,we are working on a"Turkey Shoot."This activity, designed for youth and their families, involves a variety of skill oriented contests such as basketball toss and hockey puck shoot. Those with top scores in their age category will win a prize.
