a.
City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
April 6, 1998
The April 6, 1998 City of Lino Lakes Park Board meeting was
called to order at 6: 30pm, by George Lindy, Chair.
Roll call was taken, members present were Paul Montain, Jeff
Reinart, Pam Taschuk, George Lindy, Sharon Lane, and Pat Huelman.
Joe Schmidt was absent.
Also present were Rick DeGardner, Parks and Recreation Director,
and Sandie Wood, Office Manager.
APPROVAL OF MARCH 2 , 1998 MINUTES:
George questioned the minutes as to whether the final decision
regarding the boardwalk was that it could not be used and had to
be replaced and Rick DeGardner verified that to be true.
Paul Montain made a motion, seconded by Pam Taschuk, to approve
March 2, 1998 minutes . The minutes were approved.
SETTING THE AGENDA:
Added Steven Heiskary letter regarding Shenandoah play equipment
and a memo from Mayor Kim Sullivan regarding funding of
playground equipment.
INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS:
George welcomed and introduced the new members of the Board, Jeff
Reinart and Pat Huelman.
OPEN MIKE •
Rick explained that he had two issues to address . The first
being a letter he had received from Jamie and Dan Ferguson
regarding playground equipment for Birch Park. He read the
letter and explained that they had been promised more playground
equipment in addition to the swings and slide that they already
have and they are requesting it at this time.
George commented on the fact that Birch Park is a relatively
developed park with a hockey rink, ball park, and a metal slide
which is a safety issue. The park is older, heavily used by many
families, and is programmed for little league.
Sharon Lane stated that although it was no excuse for no
playground equipment, and she did feel badly about the situation,
the promises made for more equipment did not come from the Park
Board, but possibly a developer.
George pointed out that he remembered the land being dedicated in
lieu of money.
1
