City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
April 6, 1998
Sharon then stated she felt the Board should help them out but
this was a recurring problem that they had with developers .
Jeff Reinart explained that in talking to some of the homeowners
in that area, a $500 allotment was to go to the park and it
instead went to an underpass for the school . He did point out
that he was unsure of the truth in those claims .
Jeff indicated that the homeowners were angry about the park and
a way to reduce the anger and confusion about the park would be
just to let them know how the system works .
Rick said he would try to do some research and find out how Birch
park was originally dedicated and determine where any park
dedicated dollars from this development were allocated.
Paul noted that Lino Lakes' Policy states there is not a lot
assessment for parks, whereas other cities do. It is either land
or cash which is decided at the Park Board level . Sharon then
asked if at a future meeting they could address these concerns in
which George confirmed that Rick would get more information and
they would discuss the land dedication when they got to the goal
setting segment of the meeting.
Rick read the letter he had received from Steven A. Heiskary, 572
Arrowhead Court, regarding the removal of the equipment from
Shenandoah Park. George reminded the Board that this issue was
discussed at their last meeting and Paul suggested they cover it
further in the goal setting segment of the meeting. Rick then
read the letter from Mayor Sullivan regarding funding of
playground equipment to the Board and determined this would also
be discussed during goal setting.
Sharon asked Rick to explain his proposal to Mr. Pecchia, Interim
City Administrator, regarding the remodeling of the current park
building. Rick stated that they were considering various options
for the current Parks and Recreation Building when the new City
Hall is completed.
BEHM' S CENTURY FARM PLAT REVIEW:
Rick explained that he and Mr. John C. Johnson, a consultant for
the Behm' s 4th Addition with Mr. Gary Uhde, had been in
discussion regarding the options for the development of Behm' s
Park. Because they are in the stages of constructing the 4th
Addition, Rick felt it was a good time for the Board to look at
the existing Behm' s Park, and options to obtain additional
funding for the park. Rick then summarized the three options for
the Park Plan submitted by Mr. Johnson.
2
