City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> March 2 , 1998 <br /> Chair Lindy indicated agreement with the plan. He asked if there <br /> is a market for the two vacant lots at the end of Sandhill Drive, <br /> to which Mr. DeGardner responded one of the lots is unbuildable <br /> and the other contains considerable wetlands; therefore, it is <br /> uncertain whether or not they will prove to be a viable asset to <br /> the City. <br /> Mr. Montain made a motion to reinforce the Rice Lake Estates <br /> master plan as presented, and to pursue the sale of the two lots <br /> on Sandhill Drive, seconded by Ms . Piper. Motion carried. <br /> PARK NAMING ORDINANCE : <br /> Mr. DeGardner presented a third draft of this proposed ordinance, <br /> which includes the following revisions : <br /> 1 . That the suggested new name and rational for change must <br /> appear on the petition <br /> 2 . Reference to "City service organization" is changed to <br /> "community service organization" <br /> 3 . Policy has been specified regarding the naming of new parks <br /> Chair Lindy requested clarification that existing parks were <br /> officially named by default according to current identification. <br /> He also recommended that "Behms" be officially named "Behms <br /> Century Farms" . <br /> Mr. Schmidt expressed concern that guidelines should be in place <br /> with respect to this proposed petition process . Mr. Montain <br /> explained that the City Charter contains guidelines under its <br /> initiative and referendum provisions . <br /> Mr. DeGardner pointed out the importance of having this type of <br /> process in place to allow residents an avenue for making park <br /> name changes . <br /> Mr. Montain made a motion to accept the current draft ordinance <br /> as presented, seconded by Ms . Taschuk. Motion carried. <br /> REVIEW OF NEW TIME SHEETS: <br /> Mr. DeGardner explained that the Parks and Recreation Department <br /> recently revised time sheets for each of its divisions, allowing <br /> for more accurate tracking of expenditures . <br /> Chair Lindy suggested that information gathered in this manner <br /> will prove useful in future maintenance planning. <br /> 4 <br />
