City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
December 1, 1997
Rick said staff is also in the process of developing a map/guide
which will depict trails in Lino Lakes and will also include
amenities in the city' s parks . This map/guide will also include
school amenities and Anoka County parks facilities .
Rick is hoping to bring the rough draft before the Park Board at
the January meeting.
George asked if the cost of putting the trails, proposed to be on
the right-of-way but were put in the ditches, was included in the
average cost of $15 per lineal foot . Rick said the $15 cost is
based on minimal or no site grading work and if grading is
required it would cost more than $15 . George asked if some of
the trails along Birch needed to be graded and/or filled. Rick
said he would have to check on this .
Sharon asked why the cost was cheaper. Paul responded because
generally the engineering fee is a 30 percent marked up,
therefore, raising the cost .
FRIENDS OF THE PARK UPDATE:
Barry said no action was taken, on any items, at the last
meeting. The Friends are starting discussion on the golf
tournament because it will be held earlier than July in 1998 . He
added there will be no December meeting.
RECREATION UPDATE:
Brochures should be in residents homes the first week of
December. Barry said staff is working on the Breakfast with
Santa and Secret Holiday Shop programs to be held on December 13 .
He said he has hired warminghouse staff and the rinks are
scheduled to open the 15th of December, weather permitting.
Paul asked if the department was having a Holiday Lighting
Contest again this year. Barry said yes . There are about 7
people registered now, but hopes to have 15 or more . He added
that donations have been received from Anoka Electric and NSP.
PARKS UPDATE•
Rick told the members what rinks were going to have warminghouses
and which ones were not . He said staff sent a letter to Dan
Kelly letting him know there was not going to be a rink at
Country Lakes Park but the city was willing to put a rink on the
school grounds .
