• <br /> • <br /> Program Highlights <br /> Holiday Events <br /> ♦ Family Turkey Shoot- over 100 children participated in this free event. Special <br /> thanks to: the Lino Lakes Lions,the Circle-Lex Lions, the Circle-Lex VFW Post <br /> #6583, and the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association for thier financial support. <br /> Special thanks also to our volunteers. <br /> ♦ Breakfast with Santa planning is underway. Peg Smith will again be making the <br /> delicious breakfast. The possibility of adding an additional meal is being discussed <br /> due to the popularity of this program. <br /> ♦ The Holiday Lighting Contest is back once again. Donations have come from <br /> Circle Pines Utilities, Connexus Energy, Mirmegasco, and NSP.Judging will take <br /> place Dec. 16 and 17. Awards will be given to first, second and third place winners. <br /> Youth Programs <br /> ♦ Youth Fast Pitch Softball clinics have concluded.We saw our highest numbers to <br /> date. More sessions will be offered in the witner and early spring. <br /> ♦ A variety of"Wild Away for a Day Trips" are planned for this winter season that <br /> include: New Years Eve 1998, Ski trips,Winter Discovery, and Be My Valentine <br /> ♦ New Programs beginning this winter:Toss, Kick and Catch, Saturday Night Skate, <br /> Intro to Figure Skating, and Precision/Dance Line <br /> Adult Programs <br /> ♦ 3 vs. 3 Basketball -we had 14 teams in this program this fall. Several teams stayed <br /> on and joined our 5-player basketball league. <br /> ♦ 5-Player Basketball - 12 teams are registered in this program.This is the largest <br /> league to date. If room was available, we could add two more teams. <br /> General Information <br /> ♦ The Parks and Recreation Department expenienced problems similar to other <br /> businesses this fall looking for seasonal part-time staff. Although we did not have a <br /> large number of applicants, those that applied seemed very competent. We <br /> anticipate opening the warming houses on Dec. 20 (weather permitting). <br /> ♦ Programs set to start in December/January: Kids-Er-Cise, Pre-Kids-Er-Cise, Basket <br /> "Have a Ball," Family Open Gym, Fastpitch Pitching Clinics, Martial Arts, Dance <br /> Classes, Ice-skating lessons, co-rec volleyball, aerobics, and 4-player hockey. <br /> Any questions?
