COUNCIL MINUTES OCTOBER 12, 1998
Centennial Fire District Approved
\.o
Mayor Sullivan reminded those present of the guidelines for audience participation in City
Council meetings, emphasizing the need for respectful dialog.
OPEN MIKE
Mr. Mark Lindblad, a representative from the Citizens Advisory Group(CAG), stated that the
CAG is a group of volunteers whose main focus this year was the development of the
Comprehensive Plan. Based on many hours of thought and consideration, the CAG had decided
to express its support of the draft Comprehensive Plan (Plan). Mr. Lindblad offered a written
analysis of the Plan prepared by the Citizens Advisory Group.
Mayor Sullivan asked that a copy of the CAG analysis be entered into the record.
Council Member Bergeson stated the comments from the CAG should be presented to the
Planning& Zoning Board at the public hearing October 14, 1998. Mr. Lindblad indicated he
will be present at the meeting.
Mayor Sullivan thanked Mr. Lindblad for the update from the CAG.
Mayor Sullivan stated that a group of Weeblos Scouts were present at the last Mayor's Round
Table meeting. The Scouts learned how a City government meeting is run, how to fold a flag,
and were able to honk the horns on the public works vehicles. Mayor Sullivan congratulated the
group for earning their citizens pin.
Mayor Sullivan congratulated Sergeant Mortenson who has completed the FBI Academy
Training Course. She stated Sergeant Mortenson was in the program for three (3) months. The
program was funded by the Federal Government. Any
citizen that is interested in part-time employment should apply directly at the store.
Mayor Sullivan stated that Board appointments for the Park Board, Planning& Zoning Board,
and Environmental Board are coming up. Anyone interested in serving on any Board should
contact Mr. Tesch at City Hall.
Mayor Sullivan stated that Major Charles Cape provided the City with a history of the Lino
Lakes Civil Defense Department which is now part of the Public Safety Department. The history
states that the name of the City came from a line of Oak trees that were located near the old post
office. The post office is no longer there.
