COUNCIL MINUTES OCTOBER 12, 1998 <br /> PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH <br /> Consideration of Resolution No. 98- 156,Accepting Donation from Centennial Fire District <br /> for D.A.R.E. Program -Mr. Tesch stated that the Centennial Fire District has graciously <br /> donated$2,000 to offset the cost of the D.A.R.E. Program. The goal of the Lino Lakes Police <br /> Department is to ensure that the D.A.R.E. Program continues to be partially funded through <br /> donations from the community. The Centennial Fire District is aware of this goal and has <br /> donated$2,000 toward the cost of administering the program in the local middle school in 1998 <br /> and the elementary schools in 1999. <br /> The purpose of Resolution No. 98 - 156 is to accept and publicly thank the Centennial Fire <br /> District for their generous donation. <br /> Council Member Neal moved to adopt Resolution No. 98 - 156, as presented. Council Member <br /> Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Resolution No. 98 - 156 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br /> PROCLAMATION,Proclaiming October, 1998, as Crime Prevention Month - Mr. Tesch <br /> stated that Crime Prevention Month was designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, <br /> generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts among civic groups, schools, faith <br /> communities, businesses, and individuals as they help to nurture communal responsibility and <br /> instill pride throughout the City of Lino Lakes. <br /> Staff requested that Council acknowledge and read the PROCLAMATION in support of <br /> designating the month of October, 1998, as Crime Prevention Month in the City of Lino Lakes. <br /> Mayor Sullivan read the PROCLAMATION acknowledging October, 1998, as Crime Prevention <br /> Month in the City of Lino Lakes. <br /> Consideration of Renewal of Animal Control Contract-Mr. Tesch stated that the City has <br /> had Otter Lake Animal Control Center as its contract holder for the past three (3) years. The <br /> City's relationship during this time with the business has been very professional and the City was <br /> able to meet the needs of the citizens, Otter Lake Animal Control Center, and the City by <br /> utilizing the provisions of this contract. <br /> Staff requested that the contract be renewed for calendar year, 1999. <br /> Mayor Sullivan asked if the contract is renewed every year. Mr. Tesch stated the contract was <br /> initially for three (3)years. It is now being renewed yearly. <br /> Council Member Bergeson moved to approve the request to enter into a renewal contract with <br /> the Otter Lake Animal Control Center. Council Member Lyden seconded the motion. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> 3 <br />
