The Family Turkey Shoot This holiday season the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department will host a new holiday special event that is sure to become a seasonal favorite—the Family Turkey Shoot This FREE fun-filled family event is sure to become as much of a tradition as the Thanksgiving turkey. The First Annual Family Turkey Shoot will be held on Saturday,November 14, 1998 from 10 am— 11:30 am at Centennial Middle School. Participants are welcome to arrive any time between 10 am— 11 am. Participants will compete in teams consisting of 1 adult and 1 child (ages 4-14). Adults may bring more than one child. Teams will compete in a variety of low-key athletic events: basketball free throw shoot, football throw,bean bag toss, floor hockey shoot, baseball throw and Frisbee toss. Teams will be able to participate at their own pace during this event and will compete in one of three divisions based on the child's age: (4-7), (8-10), and(11-14). It will take approximately 20 minutes for teams to complete all of the events. Points will be awarded at each individual event and will be added together to determine the team's overall score. The top two teams, in each division, with the highest overall scores will be awarded gift certificates that may be used for Thanksgiving food items. All participants will be entered into a random drawing for additional gift certificates. Winners need not be present to win. Refreshments will be served throughout the event for teams to enjoy once they have finished competing. The Family Turkey Shoot is a free event for families. There is no cost to participate and pre- registration is not required. Come and join in the fun! The Family Turkey Shoot is co- sponsored by the Circle-Lex VFW Post 6583,the Circle-Lex Lions and the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association.
