City of Lino Lakes a � Park Board Meeting July 6, 1998 The July 6, 1998 City of Lino Lakes Park Board meeting was called to order at 6: 37pm, by Chair George Lindy. Roll call was taken, members present were Jeff Reinert, George Lindy, Pam Taschuk, Sharon Lane, Pat Huelman, Joe Schmidt, and Paul Montain. Also present were Rick DeGardner, Parks and Recreation Director, and Sandie Wood, Office Manager. APPROVAL OF June 1, 1998 MINUTES: Rick stated that on page 2, paragraph 6, "Birchwood Park" should read "Birch Park". Also in paragraph 6, "or the north side" should read "on the north side" . Sharon Lane made a motion, seconded by Pam Taschuk, to approve the amended June 1, 1998 minutes. The minutes were approved. SETTING THE AGENDA: Rick added 14E, under New Business, Discussion of Cooperative Venture for Athletic equipment. Paul added 14F, under New Business, Comprehensive Plan update. n The amended agenda was passed as presented. OPEN MIKE • No one was present for open mike. BIRCHWOOD ACRES: Installation of Climbing Equipment - Rick stated that the Friends of the Park have donated a Jacobs Ladder climbing apparatus and picnic table for Birchwood Acres Park. There has been some concern from area residents who live adjacent to the park regarding the addition of the Jacobs Ladder. Rick explained that some residents have expressed concerns about installing additional play equipment. One resident stated "the neighborhood worked very hard in developing this park to the extent that it currently is, and it is not reasonable to add additional equipment . " There is also concern regarding the color of the Jacobs Ladder. Rick stated that in discussions with the equipment vendor, it is not feasible to paint this equipment . If it is acceptable to add this piece of equipment, Rick recommended extending the existing play area to the south. This ,-� would require the removal of 10 - 12 Quaking Aspen Trees, 1
