City of Lino Lakes <br /> a � <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> July 6, 1998 <br /> The July 6, 1998 City of Lino Lakes Park Board meeting was <br /> called to order at 6: 37pm, by Chair George Lindy. <br /> Roll call was taken, members present were Jeff Reinert, George <br /> Lindy, Pam Taschuk, Sharon Lane, Pat Huelman, Joe Schmidt, and <br /> Paul Montain. <br /> Also present were Rick DeGardner, Parks and Recreation Director, <br /> and Sandie Wood, Office Manager. <br /> APPROVAL OF June 1, 1998 MINUTES: <br /> Rick stated that on page 2, paragraph 6, "Birchwood Park" should <br /> read "Birch Park". Also in paragraph 6, "or the north side" <br /> should read "on the north side" . <br /> Sharon Lane made a motion, seconded by Pam Taschuk, to approve <br /> the amended June 1, 1998 minutes. The minutes were approved. <br /> SETTING THE AGENDA: <br /> Rick added 14E, under New Business, Discussion of Cooperative <br /> Venture for Athletic equipment. <br /> Paul added 14F, under New Business, Comprehensive Plan update. <br /> n <br /> The amended agenda was passed as presented. <br /> OPEN MIKE • <br /> No one was present for open mike. <br /> BIRCHWOOD ACRES: <br /> Installation of Climbing Equipment - Rick stated that the Friends <br /> of the Park have donated a Jacobs Ladder climbing apparatus and <br /> picnic table for Birchwood Acres Park. There has been some <br /> concern from area residents who live adjacent to the park <br /> regarding the addition of the Jacobs Ladder. <br /> Rick explained that some residents have expressed concerns about <br /> installing additional play equipment. One resident stated "the <br /> neighborhood worked very hard in developing this park to the <br /> extent that it currently is, and it is not reasonable to add <br /> additional equipment . " There is also concern regarding the color <br /> of the Jacobs Ladder. Rick stated that in discussions with the <br /> equipment vendor, it is not feasible to paint this equipment . <br /> If it is acceptable to add this piece of equipment, Rick <br /> recommended extending the existing play area to the south. This <br /> ,-� would require the removal of 10 - 12 Quaking Aspen Trees, <br /> 1 <br />
